Embodied Trauma
Embodied Trauma
Embodied Trauma is a way of working with trauma through the body.
We define trauma as any experience that is overwhelming for us to deal with. This could be a rolled ankle at a moment of stress, a snide remark, a situation that seems normal to everyone else but is overwhelming to you, as well as systematic and long-term abuse. It's not for anybody else to decide what is traumatic to you, and it is important to become aware that we have all experienced trauma in one form or another.

There has been a lot of research about trauma recently, and it's become clear that the body stores any overwhelming experiences and emotions that we experience. Therefore, releasing trauma needs to include a physical component, especially if the trauma is physical in nature.
The body has its own innate healing mechanism, and when we learn to use it, the first thing it will usually do is regulate the nervous system.

The nervous system holds our trauma and stress, and we are rapidly learning more about how destructive held trauma can be - for our health, our relationships, our career, and our happiness.
Now is the time to learn to release trauma. When done through and with the body, this can be quick, lasting, and very empowering.

The body does not go into stories - it's our mind that keeps us locked in there. By focusing on the body and the bodily sensations in a neutral and safe environment, we release the control of the mind and access what needs to be balanced naturally.

Testimonials
"The Embodied Trauma Workshop for Bodyworkers course I participated in was truly enlightening.

Caroline is a warm and compassionate therapist and teacher who brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her teaching.

The course covers some of the science behind trauma, what it is and how it manifests, as well as practical guidance on how to work with clients with trauma held in their bodies.

I would wholeheartedly recommend the course and am keen to work with Caroline again in the future."
